A new website called Sexy and Sober Singles aims to make the process a little easier.
“We’re just trying to help like-minded people who don’t drink find a place where you don’t have to explain why you’re not drinking or what your issue is,” co-founder Shannon Shea tells .
I’d have laughed with my date over beers and shots and back then if a prospective love interest didn't drink, I didn't want to know. And I use the term I relied heavily on alcohol to start, maintain and end relationships with women.
Between the experiences of catfishes, ghosts, horrendously bad dates and just dealing with certifiably batshit crazy people (see: my collab with Jennifer from the blog Champagne Supernova HERE), I just don’t have the patience. Meeting people, especially when you’re a little ‘older,’ isn’t easy. I know there are good dudes out there, and I’ve met and chatted with a few.THE GUY WHO DOESN’T EVEN NEED YOU THERE TO HAVE A CONVERSATION. If you ask me out and I tell you no or ask for a rain check or tell you I can’t on a certain date, ACCEPT MY ANSWER AND MOVE ON.I don’t respond to messages for a few reasons: I got busy, I didn’t see it for a few days, I am not really into you so I start backing off, etc. On Bumble, guys can send pics but they’re scrambled until you click on them.On the bright side, it wasn’t a pic of his junk but an unsolicited selfie isn’t wanted either, DAN. I can’t speak for other women, but I don’t like aggressive persistence. The idea for the site came from co-founder Paul Kole, who faced his own struggles while trying to date during recovery.
